Last night's dinner at Aventino

Last night, Ed and I were part of a small group invited to dine at Aventino before they actually open. They invited a small group of friends so they could do a nice little test run. Think it's always a good sign when two of those 'test diners' are Robert Bass and his wife.

Here's what we had:

Appetizer:
Tomatoe Rice Croquettes with mozarella, prosciutto and peas

Pasta Course:
Spaghetti alla chitara "carbonara"with pancetta, shallot, pecorino romano and egg yolk emulsion
Black Peppercorn Peppardelle with wild boar ragu, baby beets, carmelized red endive and red cabbage foam

Main Course:
Monkfish "Putanesca" with garlic, capers, olives, artichokes, tomatoes
Veal Duo with Braised Veal Cheeks and Pan-roasted Veal Tenderloin with autumn harvest vegetables

Dessert:
Chocolate Spiced Cake with green tea meringue and pumpkin seed sorbet
Coffee & Cream Semifreddo with warm cream

It was just delicious. Opening soon. No firm date yet. Maybe today....maybe Monday.
